What does a website cost in India?
There is no single price, and that is the first thing to know. One hosting company's guide puts a 5 to 15 page business website at roughly ₹10,000 to ₹80,000. Many agencies quote more. Freelancers and website builders sit at the low end.
The range is wide because "a website" can mean very different things. A single page with your phone number is one product. A ten page site with service pages, enquiry forms, WhatsApp buttons and a proper privacy policy is another. Before you compare prices, compare what is actually being built.
What do freelancers, agencies and builders charge?
Each option trades money against time and risk.
- Website builders (the drag and drop kind) are cheapest to start. You do the work yourself, and the monthly fee never stops.
- Freelancers can build a good site for a fair price. The risk is what happens when they get busy or leave. Ask who holds the logins.
- Agencies charge more upfront. You get a team, but often a bill for every small change afterwards.
- A managed plan spreads the cost over months. You pay a monthly fee and the builder keeps the site running.
None of these is wrong. The right one depends on whether you want to spend your own time on the site.
What costs come after launch?
This is where a cheap quote often becomes an expensive site. A website is not a poster. It has to stay online, stay safe and stay current. Ask about each of these:
- Hosting. The server that keeps the site online. Usually yearly or monthly.
- Domain. Your address, such as yourshop.in. It renews every year or two.
- Security and backups. Updates that close holes, and copies you can restore from.
- Changes. New opening hours, a new price, a new photo. Who does it, and what does each change cost?
- Fixes. What happens when a form stops sending enquiries to your inbox?
If a quote says nothing about these, ask. A site that goes down for a week because nobody renewed hosting costs more than any build fee.
What does "free website" mean?
Some providers, including us, build the site for nothing and charge a monthly fee instead. That is a fair way to buy a website, as long as you know exactly what the monthly fee covers and what happens if you stop paying.
The free build is not a gift. It is paid for by the months you stay. A good provider tells you this plainly. We cover it in detail in Is a free website really free?.
What should a monthly plan include?
At the least:
- Hosting and a valid SSL certificate, so the browser shows a padlock
- Regular backups and security updates
- A small number of edits each month, with a clear size for each
- Enquiry forms that reach your email, plus click to call and WhatsApp buttons
- A real person to ask when something breaks
- A report that tells you, in plain words, what was done
How do you compare two quotes?
Put them side by side and fill in this list for each one.
- What exactly is built: how many pages, which features?
- What is the cost in the first year, including hosting and domain?
- What is the cost in the second year?
- How many changes are included, and what does an extra change cost?
- Who owns the domain? It should be registered in your name.
- What happens if you want to leave?
- Is GST included in the price shown, or added later?
A quote that answers all seven is worth more than a cheaper one that answers two.
What do we charge, and why?
Our Managed Website plan builds up to 10 pages for ₹0 and then costs ₹2,999 a month, GST included. That covers hosting, SSL, backups, security updates, uptime monitoring, 2 small edits a month of about 15 minutes each, and a monthly website health report. Your website goes live within 7 working days of you sending your details and making your first payment.
You register and pay for your own domain, so it is always in your name. Extra pages, a redesign, or work outside the plan is quoted first, at ₹500 an hour. You can cancel anytime with no notice period. See the pricing page for the full list of what is and is not included.
Questions people ask
Is ₹10,000 enough for a business website?
It can be, for a simple site built once. The question is what happens afterwards. Ask who pays for hosting, security, backups and the changes you will want in six months. A low build price with no plan for the year after launch often costs more by the end of year one than a monthly plan would have.
Who owns the domain?
It should be registered in your name, with your email as the owner. Ask this before you pay anyone. With our plans you register and pay for your own domain, so it stays yours even if you cancel. If a provider registers it for you, make sure you can see it in your own account.
What is the GST on a website plan?
GST on these services is 18%. The important question is whether the price you are shown already includes it. Our plan prices include GST, so the amount you see is the amount you pay. Always ask providers whether their figure is before or after GST.
Can I cancel a monthly plan?
With ours, yes, anytime and with no notice period. The plan keeps running until the end of the month you have already paid for, and that month is the last one charged. Before signing with anyone, ask whether there is a minimum term or a fee for leaving early.
What is not included in your plan?
Domain registration and renewal, extra pages or a redesign, content writing, search optimisation or ads, and e-commerce or new features. Work outside the plan is quoted first, at ₹500 an hour. The list is on our pricing page so you can read it before you decide.
